Therapeutic interventions, from psychotherapy to pharmacological treatments, are predominantly discussed in terms of their efficacy and positive outcomes. However, this paper argues that there is a significant bias in both clinical practice and academic literature towards emphasizing the benefits of therapeutic interventions while downplaying or overlooking their potential negative effects. This bias creates an incomplete understanding of therapeutic processes and risks undermining patient care.
By analyzing empirical studies, therapeutic frameworks, and the structure of clinical research, this paper explores how the bias towards positive outcomes is perpetuated and discusses the implications for ethical practice, patient safety, and future research.
