Viability of Fiber-to-the-Server: Are We There Yet?

A comparative analysis of datacenter network architecture trade-offs between traditional Top-of-Rack-based architectures using copper server connectivity versus deploying fiber to the server (FTTS) reveals that emerging low-cost co-packaged optics in combination with high-radix switch devices are likely to tip the balance in favor of FTTS.
